Job summary

Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) is hiring a Curriculum Developer II - Computer Science to create and refine CS educational materials that inspire students and teachers. This hybrid, full-time role is based at our San Diego headquarters and shapes CS courses.

Ideal candidates have a CS-related bachelor's, 1–2 years teaching CS or developing CS content (K-12 preferred), strong CS knowledge, and excellent writing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in a CS-related field; advanced degree a plus.
  • 1–2 years teaching CS and/or developing CS materials.
  • Strong CS content knowledge and ability to explain concepts clearly.
  • Excellent writing, attention to detail and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new CS courses and other educational materials.
  • Improve existing materials based on feedback from students and teachers.
  • Incorporate feedback from team members and stakeholders into materials.
  • Review and provide feedback on materials created by others.
  • Participate in onboarding and mentoring of interns and junior developers.
  • Understand the target student audience and delivery context; may teach courses.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.

Job description

As the Curriculum Developer II - Computer Science you will play a key role in developing and refining educational materials that will inspire and train the next generation of great problem solvers. At the Curriculum Developer II level, you will contribute to a variety of curriculum projects while continuing to build your skills as an educational content developer.

The Curriculum Developer II - Computer Science will:

  • Develop new courses and other educational materials
  • Improve existing materials based on student and teacher feedback
  • Incorporate feedback from team members and other stakeholders into their materials
  • Review and provide feedback on materials created by other team members
  • Participate in the onboarding, training, and development of interns and entry-level curriculum developers
  • Build their understanding of the students within their target audience, the people who will deliver their content, and the purchasers of their content; this may include teaching courses, if relevant
  • Complete other tasks and responsibilities, as assigned

The ideal candidate has:

  • A bachelor's degree in a field closely related to computer science, with an advanced degree a plus
  • A minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience teaching computer science and/or developing computer science educational materials, ideally including some experience at the K-12 level
  • Strong computer science content knowledge
  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to translate complex computer science concepts into clear, engaging, and understandable content
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong creativity, with the ability to develop original problems and puzzles
  • A readiness to seek out and learn from feedback
  • Passion for education
