Job summary

AoPS is seeking a Curriculum Developer II in Computer Science to create and refine courses and educational materials that engage students and build problem-solving skills.

You will collaborate with teams, review others' work, mentor interns, and contribute to a flexible, hybrid workplace with relocation support if needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a closely related field; advanced degree a plus.
  • 1–2 years of experience teaching computer science or developing CS educational materials, ideally including some experience at the K-12 level.
  • Strong computer science content knowledge.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to translate complex CS concepts into clear content.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong creativity, with the ability to develop original problems and puzzles.
  • Willingness to seek out and learn from feedback.
  • Passion for education.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new CS courses and other educational materials.
  • Improve existing materials based on student and teacher feedback.
  • Incorporate feedback from team members and other stakeholders into materials.
  • Review and provide feedback on materials created by other team members.
  • Participate in onboarding, training, and development of interns and entry-level curriculum developers.
  • Build understanding of the students, teachers, and purchasers of content; this may include teaching courses if relevant.
  • Complete other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Curriculum Developer II - Computer Science Full Description

As the Curriculum Developer II - Computer Science you will play a key role in developing and refining educational materials that will inspire and train the next generation of great problem solvers. At the Curriculum Developer II level, you will contribute to a variety of curriculum projects while continuing to build your skills as an educational content developer.

The Curriculum Developer II - Computer Science will:
  • Develop new courses and other educational materials
  • Improve existing materials based on student and teacher feedback
  • Incorporate feedback from team members and other stakeholders into their materials
  • Review and provide feedback on materials created by other team members
  • Participate in the onboarding, training, and development of interns and entry-level curriculum developers
  • Build their understanding of the students within their target audience, the people who will deliver their content, and the purchasers of their content; this may include teaching courses, if relevant
  • Complete other tasks and responsibilities, as assigned
The ideal candidate has:
  • A bachelor's degree in a field closely related to computer science, with an advanced degree a plus
  • A minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience teaching computer science and/or developing computer science educational materials, ideally including some experience at the K-12 level
  • Strong computer science content knowledge
  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to translate complex computer science concepts into clear, engaging, and understandable content
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong creativity, with the ability to develop original problems and puzzles
  • A readiness to seek out and learn from feedback
