Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Model and meet the expectations of the Portrait of a Lab School Team Member.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other instructionalstaff to create fair and welcoming classroom communities
  • Assist team members to create clear expectations and norms forclassroom communities
  • Model restorative practices to address learning and behaviorneeds
  • Model and foster a growth mindset
  • Actively engage with colleagues, school administration, thelocal community, and university partners to cultivate acollaborative school environment
  • Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationshipwith team members
  • Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum to supportcurriculum initiatives and academic programming
  • Assist with the development of curriculum, instruction, andassessment practices
  • Assist teachers to develop innovative, integrated,standards-aligned, and inquiry-based lesson plans that arestudent-centered and based on constructivist approaches
  • Co-teach with team members during literacy and math blocks
  • Model and support evidence-based collaborative teachingstrategies that result in increased student performance
  • Assist team members with designing instructional decisionsbased on assessment data
  • Support team members in assessing the progress of theirstudents and to use data to inform teaching strategies
  • Support team members in analyzing student assessment data
  • Facilitate weekly grade level span PLT meetings
  • Plan and facilitate instructional rounds in collaboration withthe Principal and the Director of Curriculum
  • Collaborate with team members to identify strengths and areasof expertise
  • Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum to develop astrategic plan of professional development for team members
  • Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum to leadprofessional development for team members
  • Mentor Beginning Teachers
  • Plan curriculum nights
  • Work positively toward meeting identified school improvementgoals
  • Fully understand and follow expectations set forth by the staffhandbook
  • Maintain appropriate work habits, including regular andpunctual attendance and effective use of time
  • Attend and be fully engaged in staff meetings, committeemeetings, and school-wide events
  • Engage in opportunities for enhanced professional developmentto stay current in innovative teaching practices affecting thewhole child
  • Follow a plan for professional development and demonstrateevidence of growth
  • Respect the confidentiality of records and informationregarding students, families, and team members in accordance withaccepted professional ethics and state and federal laws
  • Share responsibility during the school day for the supervisionof students in areas of the school
  • Comply with state and federal education statutes, including theNC Code of Ethics for Educators
  • Adhere to the North Carolina Professional TeachingStandards
  • Other administrative duties as assigned
Work Schedule/Hours

Mon-Fri, 7-15-3:15 pm; at times thisposition may require more than the workday to perform the essentialduties of this position, including attendance and participation atschoolwide events after school hours.
