The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is hiring for an entry‑level Cash Operations Clerk to handle the receipt, validation, destruction and payout of currency and coin in a highly controlled environment. You will follow established procedures and participate in the Cash Operations career track from day one.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to operate currency equipment, counterfeit certification maintenance, and collaboration within a team to meet production standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of related work experience in banking, cash handling, warehousing, or production.
• Able to push equipment weighing 800 pounds, up to 40-60 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Basic math, accounting, and balancing skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred.
• Basic 10-key skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pay and receive currency/coin with depository institutions and operate currency equipment.
• Balance deposits and process financial transactions using specialized systems.
• Track inventory and transfers within internal teams and with external customers.
• Maintain accuracy of physical counts and automated records.
• Comply with documentation requirements.
• Obtain counterfeit certification and stay current with testing.
• Transfer and store currency/coin using handling equipment.
• Receive training and certification to operate material handling equipment.
• Work in a team‑oriented environment with high results orientation.
• Identify and report control or equipment issues to management.
• Correct routine issues with currency verification machines after training.
