Afinitas is part of BW Forsyth Partners, LLC, the investment group of global manufacturing and engineering consulting firm Barry-Wehmiller, a $3 billion organization with nearly 12,000 team members, united by a common belief: to use the power of business to build a better world.**Job Description:****ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES*** Interpret basic drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine methods and techniques to be applied* Set up and operate metal arc, shielded arc, or oxyacetylene equipment for welding, brazing, and flame-cutting operations; set current, amperage, gas pressures, and controls; select rod, wire, tips, electrodes for specific job at hand; fit, position, and secure with holding devices* Perform basic saw operations and painting as required* Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers* May measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers* Assist with the detection of defective material, unusual conditions, or operating difficulties and report to the supervisor* Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements* Participate in team meetings to communicate and help resolve any cost, quality, or production issues; understand and apply engineering change request process* Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures* Maintain equipment and work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition* Other duties as assigned**QUALIFICATIONS*** Ability to understand and interpret basic blueprints, specifications, and machined part prints* Beginning level grinding knowledge* Beginning-level experience in MIG, TIG, and flex core welding* Beginning level experience with welding stainless steel and aluminum* Team oriented* Communication skills* Interpersonal skills* Ability to multi-task* Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment**WORK ENVIRONMENT*** Works in a plant/manufacturing environment that involves the use of industrial machinery and chemicals.
