Job summary

The Department of Transportation’s Office of Curb Management seeks two City Planner level hires in New York City. The roles will examine curb issues, review curbside impacts, and develop recommendations to improve curb operations in commercial areas.

Ideal candidates have interest in transportation planning, experience with ArcGIS and MS Office, and the ability to analyze data, prepare reports and present findings to management. NYC residency and related requirements apply.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years of full-time city planning experience.
  • Graduate education can substitute for experience on the basis of 30 graduate credits, with a bachelor’s degree required.
  • Special qualification requirements may apply for higher assignment levels.

Responsibilities

  • Examine curb management issues at neighborhood level and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Conduct curb management studies and review curbside impacts of DOT projects.
  • Develop recommendations to improve curb operations and manage competing demands.
  • Collect and analyze curb usage metrics and prepare reports and presentations.
  • Present findings to management to support policy, planning and design decisions.
