Oakland Unified School District is seeking a Central Culture and Climate Ambassador for the Community School & Student Services team in Oakland, CA. The role focuses on welcoming students and families, providing Tier 1 culture and climate supports, and coordinating restorative practices to prevent conflicts.

The position emphasizes conflict mediation, de-escalation, and partnerships with school staff to maintain a safe, inclusive campus environment during the 2026-27 term.

Competenze

• Excellent communication skills required.
• Conflict mediation skills and restorative justice practices preferred.
• Ability to read verbal and nonverbal cues and de-escalate tensions.

• Support PBIS implementation and on-time return to class.
• Build positive relationships with students, families, staff and community.
• Monitor and support focal students needing extra guidance.
• Promote teamwork and participate in meetings to support school/district goals.
• Assist in investigations and incident reporting to maintain climate and safety.
• Oversee security protocols with school personnel as needed.
• Lead restorative circles and supervise monthly Saturday School.
• Collect data for Tier 1 systems and review climate data to improve interventions.
• Attend weekly Climate and Culture team meetings to discuss best practices.
