Job summary

The Healing Lodge is seeking a Culture Specialist for a full-time role in Spokane Valley, WA. The position focuses on planning, coordinating, and delivering culturally based programming integrated with individualized treatment plans for residential youth.

The role involves hands-on work such as gathering natural materials, preparing ceremonial spaces, and facilitating cultural crafts while providing cultural training for staff and supporting youth connections with Tribal mentors during treatment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience working with Native American communities or knowledge of plateau tribes.
  • At least 1 year related experience working with at-risk adolescents.
  • Proficient reading, writing and oral communication.
  • Ability to engage students in a diverse environment and maintain safety.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain resident participation records.
  • Orient residents to the culture program and its goals.
  • Maintain a twelve-week cultural curriculum reflecting plateau tribal cultures.
  • Coordinate internal and external cultural resources for youth in treatment.
  • Administer cultural assessments and report progress with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Monitor resident behavior and maintain a culturally relevant learning environment.
