Job summary

Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland seeks a Digital Imaging Specialist for a grant-funded four-year project to digitize Jewish history collections. You will photograph diverse materials, maintain imaging systems, and ensure standards compliance.

Ideal candidates have hands-on library/museum imaging experience, knowledge of FADGI, and strong project coordination skills. The role supports archival access and collection care.

Qualifications

• Experience in a cultural heritage institution and handling fragile items.
• Knowledge of FADGI guidelines and digitization best practices.
• Familiarity with the MODS metadata schema and metadata types.
• Ability to work independently, manage a sustained production workflow, and meet milestones.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains the camera imaging system and software for diverse materials.
• Performs routine equipment maintenance, color calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Applies FADGI guidelines to ensure resolution, color accuracy, and file formats.
• Conducts quality control of digitized images for consistency and completeness.
• Coordinates with the library digital team to prioritize materials for digitization and track records.
• Contributes to grant reporting by communicating progress and workflow needs.
• Helps develop imaging workflows and cross-train on metadata creation.
• Supervises interns and volunteers as needed.
