Job summary

Shangri La in Honolulu, Hawaii seeks a dedicated Security Officer to uphold a safe, welcoming environment for staff, visitors and partners. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this part-time, non-exempt role requires calm judgment, effective communication, and the ability to respond to incidents and emergencies while supporting

Qualifications

• Experience in security, law enforcement or military police; museum/public environment preferred.
• Valid Hawai‘i guard license.
• Remain calm and decisive in emergencies; discretion in sensitive situations.
• Able to work in varied weather, navigate uneven terrain and perform physical tasks up to 50 pounds.
• Clear communication under pressure in a dynamic multipurpose environment.
• Experience with CCTV, alarm systems and radio communication preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; tech-forward mindset; willingness to adopt new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Respond to alarms, emergencies and safety issues per procedures.
• Coordinate emergency and non-emergency communications with departments and visitors.
• Monitor and operate security systems (CCTV, alarms, fire systems, access control, radios).
• Complete shift logs and incident documentation accurately.
• Observe and report suspicious activity, hazards or policy violations.
• Verify credentials and enforce access control policies.
• Open, secure and close buildings; assist with guest and vendor access logistics.
