Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) seeks a Culinary Technical Assistant at the Career Connect Campus in Kalamazoo, MI. The 11-month position supports instructors, assists with student accommodations, and helps implement culinary education programs for high school students.

Qualifications

• Recent and relevant work experience in Culinary Arts.
• Currently pursuing a degree/technical education in Culinary Arts, or working in the field.
• Relevant industry certifications or credentials are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support Culinary Instructor in planning and implementing educational activities.
• Supplement instruction with additional student supports (1:1 and small group).
• Provide and document instructional accommodations for student success in the program.
• Assist with student supervision in lab and adherence to safety procedures.
• Meet with Student Engagement Coordinator monthly to report on student progress.
• Assess culinary-related skills including cooking methods, food safety, culinary math and measurements, menu design and management.
• Assist with work-based learning experiences.
• Model 21st Century skills and encourage their use by students.
• Assist with student leadership development and related activities.
• Attend professional development and other meetings as appropriate and requested.
• If needed, communicate with students, parents, CTE staff, and local school staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and classroom records; maintain regular attendance and professional appearance.

We arecurrentlyseekinga Culinary Technical Assistantat the Career Connect Campus in Kalamazoo, Michigan.The essential responsibilitiesfor this positioninclude but are not limited to:

• Support KRESA anti-bias, anti-racism principles, prioritizingequitableopportunity, programrepresentationand support for all students
• Assist the CTECulinaryInstructorin the planning and implementation of educational activities.
• Supplement instruction byassistingthe CTE Instructor withadditionalstudentsupports(i.e.individual and small group instruction, drill activities, student accommodations, etc.).
• Provide and document instructional accommodations provided to support student success in the program (i.e.additionaltesting time, modified tests/assignments, reading assessments aloud, etc.).
• Assistwith student supervision inlaband adherence to safety procedures and protocols.
• Meet withStudent Engagement Coordinatormonthly to report on student progress.
• AssessCulinaryrelated skillsincludingcooking methods andtechniques,food safety,culinary math and measurements,menudesignand management, etc.

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Recent and relevant work experience inCulinary Arts
• Strongly Preferred: Currently pursuing a degree/technical education inCulinaryArts, orworkingin thefield.
• Relevant industry certifications or credentials are beneficial.

Thisis a 11-month calendar position in job grade 13 with anannual rate of pay between $33,885 to $48,228.
