Job summary

DC Army National Guard seeks a Food Service Specialist to feed Soldiers, plan menus, and ensure food safety in field or fixed facilities. You will learn to prepare and serve meals and manage kitchen sanitation to support readiness.

You'll develop skills for civilian roles in restaurants or dining facilities and may pursue a civilian career after training. This path includes paid training and tuition assistance opportunities.

Qualifications

• Standard and dietetic menus and recipes.
• Food and supply ordering.
• Storage of meats, poultry and other perishable items.

Responsibilities

• Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes.
• Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment.
