Job summary

The Shores of Lake Phalen, a Sonida Senior Living community, is seeking a Culinary Services Director to lead the dining program for residents. You will manage the culinary team, uphold service standards, and work closely with nursing to ensure resident satisfaction.

The role requires 3-5 years in executive kitchen leadership, an associate degree in culinary arts or higher, and professional certifications. Daily cooking in the kitchen is expected, with budget oversight and inventory control.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years as Executive Chef, Kitchen Manager, or Culinary Director in senior living, hotels, or food service.
• Associate degree or higher in Culinary Arts or related field; professional certification preferred.
• Serve Safe Certification or CDM certification required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise culinary services department and dining staff.
• Set food service standards, policies, and procedures; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with nursing to meet residents' needs; maintain inventory and supplier orders; manage budget attainment.
• Oversee ordering, inventory, and cost controls; ensure necessary goods are on hand.
• Able to cook daily in the kitchen.

Culinary Services Director Responsibilities

• Responsible for the management, planning and directing the activities of the culinary service department and managing/supervising dining services staff.
• Responsible for food service standards, policies and procedures, equipment, systems, city and state regulations and work areas while providing the highest quality of food service for Residents.
• Coordinates closely with nursing staff to ensure residents’ needs are constantly being met, as needed.
• Orders all supplies and maintains inventory control. Verify orders received, assuring needed goods are on hand. Ensure that all budgetary guidelines are achieved.
• Must be willing and able to cook daily in the kitchen.
  
  

Qualifications

• At least 3-5 years’ experience as an Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager or Culinary Director in restaurants, hotels, SNF, or senior living.
• An associate degree or better in Culinary Arts, Food Science, or Hospitality Management or Certified Executive Chef (CEC, ACF).
• Serve Safe Certification or Certified Dining Manager (CDM).
