Job summary

The Oaks at Plainfield, a Sonida Senior Living community, seeks a Culinary Services Cook to plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals for residents in an independent living setting.

You will support the Culinary Services Director, maintain sanitary standards, and ensure timely, courteous dining service. The role includes training, a comprehensive benefits package, and opportunities to work with cutting-edge dining technology.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Food Service Sanitation Certificate required per state/local rules.
• Experience with volume meal prep for large groups preferred.
• Supervisory experience is a plus; ability to read recipes and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and serve attractive, nutritious meals in a sanitary, timely manner.
• Assist the Culinary Services Director in maintaining an organized dining services department.
• Prepare and serve meals for assigned shifts; ensure quality and presentation.
• Maintain dining room and kitchen cleanliness and standards for residents.
• Label, store, and manage leftovers safely and correctly.

Culinary Services Cook Responsibilities Include

• Plans, prepares, and serves attractive, nutritious meals in an organized, timely, and sanitary manner.
• Assists the Culinary Services Director in maintaining a well-organized and efficient Dining Services department.
• Prepares and serves meals for assigned shifts.
• Maintains standards for dining services to the Residents to include efficient meal service delivery, customer service and cleanliness of the dining room and kitchen.
• Clean after preparation and service; work area, pots and equipment.
• Ensures all leftovers are covered, labeled, dated and stored in the proper place.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Must possess Food Service Sanitation Certificate as per State/Local requirements.
• High Experience and/or knowledge of volume meal preparation and serving for large groups.
• Some supervisory experience preferred. Ability to read and understand recipes, work in a team environment, work flexible shifts, handle multiple tasks at one time and communicate effectively verbally and/or in writing
