Job summary

Brockton Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Culinary Program Classroom Assistant to support the Brockton High School Culinary Program. The role involves hands-on learning support, food safety, and event catering assistance in a fast-paced educational setting.

The ideal candidate has ServSafe certifications and culinary industry experience, with a focus on safety, organization, and teamwork within a school environment.

Qualifications

• ServSafe Food Handler certification required.
• Experience in culinary/hospitality industry including front-of-house and/or back-of-house.
• Experience working with high school students preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, kitchen safety, and proper food-handling procedures.
• Ability to assist students in developing culinary skills and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist culinary classroom teachers with daily classroom and kitchen setup and breakdown.
• Ensure students have supplies, equipment, ingredients, and materials for activities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe culinary classroom and kitchen.
• Support students as they develop and demonstrate culinary skills and techniques.
• Reinforce proper food safety, sanitation, kitchen safety, and workplace practices.
• Assist students with hands-on culinary activities under teacher direction.
• Plan, prepare, and run culinary program events including Culinary Café and catering.
• Assist with food preparation, presentation, service, setup, breakdown, and cleanup for events.
• Support students in developing teamwork, communication, customer service, and time management.
• Organize and maintain culinary equipment, ingredients, supplies, and inventory.
