MSU Careers Recent Jobs in East Lansing is seeking a River Trail Culinary Platform Attendant to support our residential dining operations. The role focuses on prepping, organizing, and supplying food items across salad bars, stations, and to‑order areas, while maintaining high standards of safety and service.

You will work with a diverse team to ensure quality meals, proper portioning, and timely service, contributing to a welcoming campus dining experience for students and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of full‑time food prep experience.
• Knowledge of kitchen safety practices.
• Ability to read weights and measures and weigh ingredients.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic for portions and measurements.
• Experience with multiple cooking methods (sautéing, grilling, etc.).
• Ability to lift 26–75 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain salad bars, hot/cold stations, and to-order service areas.
• Assist cooks by combining ingredients and portioning meals.
• Apply proper food handling, rotation, and storage techniques to minimize waste.
• Serve meals to students, staff and guests with a friendly demeanor.
• Collaborate within a diverse team to ensure smooth dining hall operations.
