Job summary

Aspire Rural Health System is seeking a Culinary Coordinator to lead the Culinary Department in our facility, focusing on quality food service for residents and staff. The role emphasizes positive leadership, safe food handling, and collaborative problem solving with other departments.

You will supervise culinary staff, manage training, schedules, and inventories, and coordinate resident menu requests to improve satisfaction while ensuring compliance with applicable standards.

Qualifications

  • Must demonstrate strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Experience in health care food service is preferred.
  • Experience working with older adults and dementia is desirable.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain training.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Culinary Department and supervise staff, including hiring, training, assignments, evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Conduct weekly inventory and lead regular departmental meetings to educate staff.
  • Maintain records to meet laws and regulations; collaborate with other departments to enhance resident experience.
  • Coordinate resident menu requests and work to improve resident satisfaction; ensure food prepared per applicable standards and procedures.

Job description

Aspire Rural Health System is hiring a Culinary Coordinator! We’re looking for individuals with a positive attitude to join our dedicated team of healthcare professionals committed to delivering the highest quality of service to both our residents and employees.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in working with older adults desired. Must have a genuine desire to assist older adults with Dementia
  • Previous experience in a health care facility food service department preferred.
  • Must possess strong leadership skills
  • Must be able to communicate well with residents, their family members and other staff
  • Must be mature, friendly and enjoy working with people
  • Ability to handle and manipulate equipment in supervising, demonstrating and assisting in food preparation and serving
  • Knowledge of computer PC operations and software e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Neat in appearance and good personal hygiene
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be CPR/First Aid Certified.(willing to provide training if needed)

RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee day to day operations of the Culinary Department at The Heartlands, provide direct supervision of culinary staff and participates in their hiring, training, work assignments, evaluations and reporting disciplinary items, contribute to the establishment of departmental goals and creatively lead work groups to achieve identified targets, perform weekly inventory, perform regular departmental meetings to meet the education needs of staff members, maintain records to meet laws and regulations, collaborate with other departments to enhance resident experience, meet with residents to coordinate resident menu requests and improve resident satisfaction, prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures.
