Job summary

The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) Chef Instructor is responsible for teaching students in classroom and kitchen lab environments, developing curriculum, conducting research, and contributing to the college’s mission with professionalism.

The responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, teaching and evaluating students, advising, and collaborating with colleagues to revise course guides and materials; a competitive salary of $75,000 plus comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent required in Culinary Arts, Foodservice Management, Hospitality, or related field.
• Minimum seven (7) years industry post-graduate experience.
• At least three (3) years of supervisory experience with both management and line level employees.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in the field of Culinary Arts, Foodservice Management, Hospitality, Education, or related field (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepare daily instructional lesson plans based on curriculum and teach to college standards.
• Assess learning outcomes listed in course guides or syllabi.
• Instruct lectures and hands-on classes on-campus, off-campus, or remotely.
• Advise students on academics and career guidance.
• Provide feedback and evaluate student performance using rubrics.
• Collaborate with colleagues to revise course guides, syllabi, and curriculum materials.
• Supervise students in kitchen environments and ensure safety and sanitation policies.
