Job summary

Ebenezer Pillars of Hermantown in northern Minnesota is seeking a Culinary Assistant to serve meals and support dining operations for residents.

You will follow the meal service schedule, accommodate dietary needs, maintain a clean dining area, and assist with setup. Training on the EMenu system and restaurant-style service is provided. This on-site role requires occasional casual/on-call shifts, with three shifts per month including two weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year of experience in foodservice or dining roles.
• High School Diploma preferred.
• 1 year experience in a similar role is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves meals and ensures dining area is clean and inviting.
• Follows meal service schedule and accommodates dietary needs.
• Assists with dining room setup and adheres to safety/sanitation procedures.
• Learns and uses EMenu System and restaurant-style service.
• Supports resident relations and responds to requests, escalating as needed.

The Culinary Assistant is responsible for dining room and to go meal service to residents.

This schedule includes;

• Casual / On Call
  • Must pick up three shifts a month; two being weekend shifts

Responsibilities

• Serves meals and ensures that the dining area is clean and inviting:
  • Follows meal serving schedule and procedures.
  • Offers resident meal choices and meets resident’s specific dietary needs.
  • Uses proper safety and sanitation techniques.
  • Follows dining room cleaning schedule and procedures.
  • Follow proper procedures for dining room set-up.
  • Follows proper work flow to stay on task.
  • Learns and becomes proficient with EMenu System and restaurant style service.
  • Ensures all dishes (including flatware, drinkware, etc.) are washed, sanitized, and put away before end of shift.
• Promotes and encourages positive resident relations and satisfaction:
  • Welcomes residents and initiates conversation.
  • Accommodates resident requests such as requests for food substitution, change in seating, etc.
  • Listens to any complaints and responds appropriately. Refers issues to Executive Director and Culinary Director as appropriate.
