Job summary

Vernon Terrace of Edina, part of Ebenezer, seeks a Culinary Assistant to deliver dining room and to-go meal service to residents. The role emphasizes resident satisfaction, meal variety, and safe, sanitary service in the dining area.

The position is part-time, 12 hours every two weeks with 4:00pm-7:00pm shifts and an every-other-weekend rotation. Preference for a High School Diploma and 1 year in food service is noted.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year experience in food service or dining operations.
• High School Diploma preferred.
• Part-time availability with evening shifts.

Responsibilities

• Serves meals and maintains a clean dining area.
• Accommodates resident meal substitutions and seating requests.
• Ensures sanitation and proper dining room procedures are followed.
• Learns and uses the EMenu System.
• Assists with setup and breakdown of dining services.

Culinary Assistant

The Culinary Assistant is responsible for dining room and to-go meal service to residents within the building.

Nutrition Services Schedule

• 12 hours every two weeks ; Part time
• 4:00pm-7:00pm shift
• Block Schedule:
• Week 1: Saturday and Sunday
• Week 2: Friday
• Every other weekend rotation

Responsibilities

• Serves meals and ensures that the dining area is clean and inviting:
  • Follows meal serving schedule and procedures.
  • Offers resident meal choices and meets resident’s specific dietary needs.
  • Uses proper safety and sanitation techniques.
  • Follows dining room cleaning schedule and procedures.
  • Follow proper procedures for dining room set-up.
  • Follows proper work flow to stay on task.
  • Learns and becomes proficient with EMenu System and restaurant style service.
  • Ensures all dishes (including flatware, drinkware, etc.) are washed, sanitized, and put away before end of shift.
• Promotes and encourages positive resident relations and satisfaction:
  • Welcomes residents and initiates conversation.
  • Accommodates resident requests such as requests for food substitution, change in seating, etc.
  • Listens to any complaints and responds appropriately. Refers issues to Executive Director and Culinary Director as appropriate.
