Job summary

Ebenezer's Vernon Terrace of Edina seeks a friendly Culinary Assistant to assist with dining room and to-go meal service for residents. This on-site role supports the care team by following service schedules, accommodating dietary needs, and maintaining a clean, welcoming dining environment.

The position offers casual/on-call shifts with a requirement to pick up three shifts a month, including two weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year of experience in food service or dining.
• High School Diploma preferred.
• 1 year experience preferred in a dining environment.

Responsibilities

• Serves meals and keeps dining area clean and inviting.
• Follows meal serving schedule and accommodates resident dietary needs.
• Learns and uses the EMenu System and provides restaurant-style service.
• Promotes positive resident relations and handles substitutions or seating requests.
• Ensures sanitation and follows dining room procedures.

The Culinary Assistant is responsible for dining room and to-go meal service to residents within the building.

This nutrition services schedule includes;

• Casual / On Call
  • Must pick up three shifts a month; two being weekend shifts

Responsibilities

• Serves meals and ensures that the dining area is clean and inviting:
  • Follows meal serving schedule and procedures.
  • Offers resident meal choices and meets resident’s specific dietary needs.
  • Uses proper safety and sanitation techniques.
  • Follows dining room cleaning schedule and procedures.
  • Follow proper procedures for dining room set-up.
  • Follows proper work flow to stay on task.
  • Learns and becomes proficient with EMenu System and restaurant style service.
  • Ensures all dishes (including flatware, drinkware, etc.) are washed, sanitized, and put away before end of shift.
• Promotes and encourages positive resident relations and satisfaction:
  • Welcomes residents and initiates conversation.
  • Accommodates resident requests such as requests for food substitution, change in seating, etc.
  • Listens to any complaints and responds appropriately. Refers issues to Executive Director and Culinary Director as appropriate.
