Job summary

Flathead Valley Community College is seeking eligible FVCC students to support the Culinary Arts Department during catering events at the Kalispell campus.

The role involves dishwashing, basic food prep, event setup, and guest service, with duties extending to kitchen sanitation and storage maintenance. Shifts include weekends and evenings as needed, with a dress code of black pants and a chef uniform. This is a great hands-on opportunity for culinary students.

Qualifications

• Current FVCC student enrolled in a minimum of six credits per semester.
• Be at least 18 years old and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated.
• Ability to problem-solve and follow directions, and to safely use sanitizing chemicals.
• Cooperative spirit in working with peers, supervisors, students, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Performs dishwashing of utensils and equipment using dish machine, manual wash, and three-sink setup.
• Returns clean items to storage locations.
• Sweeps and mops floors; maintains sanitation of work station and kitchen areas.
• Prep and polish service ware for events; serves guests in professional setting.
• Preps and cooks food according to ServSafe guidelines.
• Maintains cleanliness of storage rooms before, during, and after events.
• Reports to the Culinary Arts Program Director or Designee.
• May perform other similar tasks as requested.
