Job summary

YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties seeks a part-time Culinary Arts Instructor to lead and inspire culinary classes at the Tom Taylor Family YMCA in Gig Harbor, WA. You will plan lessons, demonstrate techniques, and ensure a quality, values-driven experience for youth and families.

The role requires 5+ years of culinary training or related experience, teachingability, and the ability to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED and Food Handler credentials. Join a team dedicated to diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Background and reference checks required per WA Fair Chance Act.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusive learning environment.
• Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day.
• Minimum age 18.
• 5+ years of formal culinary arts training or comparable experience.
• 1–2 years of teaching experience preferred.
• Willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
• WA State Food Handler Card required.

Responsibilities

• Teach and demonstrate culinary techniques to program participants.
• Create lesson plans aligned with YMCA curricula and class levels.
• Attend YMCA events and communicate progress to youth director.
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom and properly store supplies.
• Support center events and help reach campaign goals.
• Collaborate with staff on training and meetings.
