Job summary

Everett Public Schools, Everett High School, Massachusetts, is seeking two qualified Culinary Arts Instructors to provide evening instruction for an adult-training cohort. Instructors will deliver hands-on, industry-aligned culinary instruction in a commercial kitchen to prepare participants for employment and credentials.

The role requires a MA DESE Chapter 74 Culinary Arts license, kitchen experience, and the ability to teach adults with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts DESE Chapter 74 Culinary Arts vocational technical educator license.
• Experience teaching in a commercial kitchen environment.
• Familiarity with Massachusetts DESE Chapter 74 Culinary Arts frameworks.
• Knowledge of ServSafe certifications, food safety requirements, and sanitation practices.
• Ability to provide effective hands‑on instruction to adult learners.
• Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and recordkeeping skills.
• Availability to work the program schedule associated with the cohorts.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on culinary instruction aligned with the Massachusetts DESE Chapter 74 Culinary Arts frameworks.
• Provide instruction in commercial kitchen operations, food preparation, sanitation, safety, equipment use, and employability skills.
• Prepare participants to earn applicable ServSafe certifications and other identified industry-recognized credentials.
• Develop and maintain lesson plans, instructional materials, assessments, and participant records.
• Differentiate instruction to support adult learners with varying educational, professional, and linguistic backgrounds.
• Monitor participant progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and sanitary commercial kitchen and instructional environment.
• Collaborate with the second Culinary Arts Instructor, program administrators, workforce partners, and support staff to ensure consistent program implementation.
• Assist with inventory management, instructional supply requests, and equipment maintenance.
• Participate in required program planning, meetings, data collection, and grant-reporting activities.
• Complete other program‑related responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Career and Technical Education.

Compensation

Each instructor will be compensated at a rate of $40.00 per hour for up to 262 hours, with maximum total compensation of $10,480 per instructor over the cohort period. This is a grant‑funded position, per the Commonwealth Corporation Career Technical Initiative, and hours are contingent upon program enrollment, scheduling, continued grant funding, and successful completion of assigned responsibilities.
