Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Culinary Arts is required.
  • ServSafe instructor/proctor certification is required.
  • Five years’ experience in culinary arts, nutrition and/or dietetics.

  • Teach credit or non-credit courses within field or discipline as needed.
  • Post and maintain regular office hours to ensure accessibility to colleagues and to students for advisement and consultation.
  • Serve as faculty advisor within the Workforce Development Center advisement system. Prepare, distribute, and submit syllabi and approved course outlines for all assigned sections in accordance with program policies.
  • Maintain familiarity with Workforce Development Center’s goals, mission, and long-range plans.
  • Contribute to planning and development processes through appropriate mechanisms and channels.
  • Perform professional responsibilities in accordance with pertinent goals, missions, and plans of the Workforce Development Center.

The Culinary Arts Instructor primary role consist of teaching students in the area of culinary arts technique, food science, food preparation, cooking and meal service, based on the program’s curriculum using practical and classroom methods. He/she will monitor and motivate students to ensure they are given significant opportunity to succeed and excel in the program. The Instructor will also be responsible for assisting in the development of lesson plans, instructional materials and written and practical exams.
