Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Cardiothoracic Critical Care ICU (CTICU) team in Chicago. The role emphasizes high-acuity, transplant cases with a night schedule and 13-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays as assigned.

Responsibilities include comprehensive patient management, plan of care development, medication management, ventilator support, and critical procedures under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited program for APRNs or physician assistant.
• Current Illinois RN license and APRN license or PA license in good standing.
• Acute care certification and minimum 2 years in a critical care setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide collaborative management for CTICU patients including transplants.
• Develop and implement plans of care with critical care and surgical teams.
• Prescribe and manage meds, including vasoactive drugs and antibiotics.
• Manage ventilatory status with respiratory therapy.
• Perform and assist with procedures (central line, arterial line, chest tube, bronchoscopy).
