Job summary

CU School of Medicine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery to provide critical care for postoperative CTICU patients. The role supports high-acuity, high-volume care with rounds, orders, ECMO/MCS management, and bedside procedures.

This night shift position requires prescriptive authority eligibility and collaboration with surgeons, residents, and nursing staff to maintain exceptional patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• License to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with prescriptive authority.
• CT surgery or CT ICU experience is preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive critical care management for postoperative cardiothoracic patients in the CTICU.
• Manage ventilators, vasoactive meds, ECMO, and temporary MCS under supervision.
• Perform procedures such as central lines, arterial lines, chest tube management, and bronchoscopy as credentialed.
• Participate in rounds, care planning, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Contribute to quality improvement and protocol development in a fast-paced setting.
