Responsibilities

  • Clean and disinfect assigned areas daily including exam tables, waiting room chairs, restrooms, countertops, medical stands, and exam rooms sinks.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, clean, and dust furniture, walls, floors, and fixtures.
  • Empty trash and recycling bins, replace liners, and dispose of waste properly.
  • Monitor and restock essential supplies like soap, towels, and toilet paper; maintain inventory of cleaning agents.
  • Perform light repairs (e.g., changing light bulbs) and report issues; ensure equipment is well-maintained.
  • Lock and unlock doors and secure the building at end of shifts.
  • Safely use floor buffers, carpet cleaners, industrial vacuums, and ground keeping equipment.
  • Maintain external property such as lawn care and snow removal as needed.
  • Comply with applicable legislation, funding and organizational requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure confidential handling of sensitive team member information in line with data protection policies and laws.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Reports To: Facilities Manager

Location: Nespelem, WA

The purpose of this position is to clean and disinfect assigned areas on a daily basis which includes exam tables, waiting room chairs, restroom fixtures, counter tops, medical stands, and exam rooms sinks. The Custodian will perform their job duties in a professional manner while assuring that all the needs of the patients are met with a pleasant demeanor.

Qualifications ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Comply with Infection Control standards and sanitary requirements which includes, but is not limited to:
  • Oversee collecting, storing segregating, moving and labeling hazardous waste.
  • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning, and dusting furniture, walls, floors, and fixtures.
  • Emptying trash and recycling bins, replacing liners, and disposing of waste properly.
  • Monitoring and restocking essential supplies like soap, paper towels, and toilet paper; maintaining inventory of cleaning agents.
  • Performing light repairs (e.g., changing light bulbs), reporting significant issues, and ensuring equipment is well-maintained.
  • Locking and unlocking doors and ensuring the building is secure at the end of shifts.
  • Safely using floor buffers, carpet cleaners, industrial vacuums, and ground keeping equipment.
  • Maintenance of external property such as lawn care, shoveling snow, sweeping, spreading deicer, etc.
  • Complies with applicable legislation, funding and organizational requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure confidential handling of sensitive team member information in line with data protection policies and laws.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • HIPAA Certificate within initial 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to understand, speak, communicate and read the English language.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks.

  • Ability to communicate professionally in written, verbal, and non-verbal format while portraying a friendly tone, word choice, and body language.
  • Ability to take initiative and be proactive in the duties of the position in order to meet mandated deadlines and to comply with goals and objectives.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License is required and be insurable.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain avalid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
