POSITION: Medical Assistant Trainee

SALARY: $23.08- $28,12/hourly

REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing

LOCATION: Nespelem Clinic, Nespelem WA

This is a Safety Sensitive position which requires thorough background checks and drug testing. The Medical Assistant (Trainee) for the Colville Tribal Healthcare Authority provides responsive, high quality health care services that meet the needs of all users at their assigned location as part of a supervised apprenticeship. Incumbent will receive pay increases upon specific junctures of the two year apprenticeship program. Must be willing to sign an agreement to work for CTCHA for two years. The Medical Assistant (Trainee) will perform their job duties in a professional manner while assuring that all the needs of the patients are met with a pleasant demeanor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
• Must be able to qualify for a Medical Assistant – Registered endorsement.
• Must be willing and able to complete on-the-job training, supplemental coursework, in-person labs (all paid) and all other items listed in the Trainee plan within specified timeframes.
• Must be able to log and report hours and skill practices as required.
• Must be able to travel for apprenticeship labs.
• HIPAA and Privacy training within 90 days of employment.
• Blood borne pathogen training annually.
• CPR/First Aid within initial 90 (ninety) days of hire.
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) training is required upon MA Certification.
• Ability to understand, speak, communicate and read the English language.
• Ability to perform basic math skills to calculate dosages of medicine.
• Ability to utilize EHR proficiently.
• Requires ability to utilize a multi-line telephone with good telephone etiquette.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
• Well-developed human relation skills to convey technical concepts to others and to give instructions.
• Ability to communicate technical information and to interact with a wide variety of groups and individuals inside and outside the organization.
• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work processes in a high-volume environment in order to meet schedules and timelines.
• Ability to analyze data from multiple information ports by comparing and contrasting data to draw a conclusion or to identify trends.

• Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
