PCs for People, a nonprofit focused on digital inclusion in Minnesota, is seeking a dedicated AmeriCorps CTEP member to support individuals with computer and internet access. The role emphasizes patience, adaptability, and a learner-centered approach in a community setting.
The position requires strong communication, a self-starter attitude, and the ability to work both independently and with a team to help diverse communities succeed in navigating technology and resources.
PCs for People is one of the driving forces in the Upper Midwest attempting to improve digital inclusion by eliminating the number of individuals without a computer or access to internet in the home. As a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, our mission is to create new opportunities by providing affordable personal computers, computer repairs, internet service, and education to people with limited technological experience due to social, physical, or economic circumstances. The AmeriCorps Community Technology Empowerment Project (CTEP) bridges the "digital divide" for new Immigrants and low-income communities in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Join AmeriCorps CTEP and help make the information age accessible to all.
We are looking for a well-rounded individual who is both technically capable and people-focused. A strong comfort level with computers is important, as the role involves supporting individuals with a wide range of digital skills, from beginners to those looking to build on existing knowledge. Just as important is patience and the ability to meet people where they are, creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment. We value someone who is adaptable and open to working both independently and as part of a team. This role requires a self-starter. Someone who can take initiative, stay organized, and move work forward without constant direction, while also contributing positively to a collaborative office environment. Additionally, we are looking for someone who is reliable, flexible, and willing to engage with diverse communities. Strong communication skills, a willingness to learn, and a genuine interest in helping others succeed will be key to thriving in this position.
