Job summary

Reid State Community College seeks an Instructional Lab Assistant to provide instructional and laboratory support across Career Technical Education programs. The role assists full-time instructors in laboratories, prepares labs and materials, and offers temporary instructional coverage when instructors are absent.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Industrial Electronics/Electricity, Industrial Maintenance, Diesel Technology, Welding Technology, or related CTE discipline.
• Demonstrated knowledge of workplace and laboratory safety practices in instructional environments.
• Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to use standard computer applications and instructional technologies including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, electronic communication, and learning management systems.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including occasional evenings or other adjusted assignments.

Responsibilities

• Provide temporary classroom and/or laboratory instructional coverage for full-time CTE instructors when assigned.
• Assist instructors with hands-on laboratories, demonstrations, practice activities, and skills assessments across CTE programs.
• Prepare laboratories, shops, equipment, instructional materials, consumable supplies, and technology for classes and demonstrations.
• Support student learning by reinforcing safety, course competencies, and instructor directions in laboratories and shops.
• Demonstrate safe operation of tools, equipment, and instructional resources.
• Monitor safety and readiness of laboratory environments and report any unsafe conditions or needed repairs.
