Job summary

Central Piedmont Community College is seeking a laboratory assistant to support instructional programs by coordinating and preparing labs, assisting students, and maintaining materials.

Responsibilities include assisting with lab activities, monitoring students, data entry, equipment upkeep, inventory, and records management. The role requires basic computer literacy and an understanding of standard procedures in the engineering field. Working days: Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED or Dual Enrolled in High School & Associate in Engineering Program
• Experience in an engineering-related program or environment preferred
• Requires basic computer literacy (when appropriate)
• Requires knowledge of standard procedures in the field

Responsibilities

• Assist with coordination of laboratory activities to support instructional programs.
• Assist with laboratory/clinical activities.
• Monitor students in a lab setting; perform basic data entry.
• Prepare facility for classes; keep work areas clean and neat; distribute lab materials and handouts.
• Maintain laboratory equipment; perform simple maintenance; report repairs.
• Assist with inventory of materials and supplies; initiate ordering process as needed.
• Maintain lab library of materials (books, tapes, magazines).
• Maintain records of laboratory activities and student files including grades and attendance.
• Assist students in studying outside class or lab meeting times.
• Other duties as assigned
