Qualifications

• Alaska Teaching certificate with an endorsement in a CTE field preferred.
• Minimum of Alaska Type M certification in area of CTE required or ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe
• Knowledge & experience with culturally safe and responsive practices preferred.
• Knowledge & experience in trauma engaged practices preferred.
• Positive school climate and restorative practices preferred.
• Inupiaq, Language, History & Culture experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Consult with the CTE Director and Manager in program development.
• Creates an authentic, consistent, strength-based culturally safe and responsive instructional environment for learning and instruction program plan through collaboration with staff, students, families, and community.
• Encourage and support a Grow Your Own career path for middle school and high school students.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with North Slope entities to grow a CTE program that meets the goals of the students and the needs of the eight communities within the North Slope.
• Promote and support School District Goals as defined in the Board of Education Strategic Plan.
• Abide by the code of ethics and the professional teaching standards adopted by the Professional Teaching Practice Commission of the State.
• Provide instruction in safety, particularly as it applies to the use of power tools, machines, hand tools, hazardous materials, and protective gear.
