Job Summary

The CT X-ray Tech performs technical procedures under the direction of the Director of Medical Imaging, manipulating radio frequency signals within a magnetic field to demonstrate cross-sectional anatomy and detect pathology. Responsibilities include operating CT equipment, managing images, and ensuring diagnostic quality. Must work well with diverse patient groups and interact professionally with patients, physicians, and staff.

Essential Functions

• Verify requisitions, patient history, and exam details; consult Radiologist if needed
• Use RIS and PACS systems effectively to order, complete, and review exams
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images with minimal repeats
• Ensure patient safety during transport and procedures, including managing IVs, catheters, and restraints
• Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation
• Follow infection control and safety protocols, including equipment cleaning and sharps disposal

Behavioral Standards

• Provide excellent customer service, utilizing scripting and AIDET principles
• Respond promptly to requests and inquiries with a positive attitude

Knowledge and Communication

• Attend staff meetings, follow HIPAA and patient rights policies
• Understand emergency procedures and safety programs

Minimum Requirements

• Experience in CT procedures, patient care, and communication skills
• Graduate of a 2-year accredited Radiology program
• ARRT in CT (R) and MRT licensure in Texas; BLS certification from AHA
