Requirements

The CT Technologist will perform a variety of procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for multiple diagnoses or interventions. The role includes performing CT and X‑Ray examinations according to protocol and age‑specific needs, including patient preparation.

Schedule

Works in the department on Friday from 9:30 am to 8 pm; placed on call from Friday 8 pm to Monday 8 am. Must remain within 30 minutes of Steele Memorial Medical Center during the weekend call shift.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Work various shifts and take call on a rotating basis.
  • Perform CT and X‑Ray procedures according to protocol.
  • Consistently provide images of optimal diagnostic quality for patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric age groups; follow established imaging and viewing protocols.
  • Operate imaging equipment in diagnostic radiology and CT procedures efficiently and effectively.
  • Complete quality imaging in a timely manner, effectively organizing and prioritizing workflow to meet STAT and urgent demands while continuing to meet patient standards.
  • Interact with patients to ascertain medical history and provide instructions and explanation of the procedure and/or exam to obtain the best possible image.
  • Review patient charts for missed clinical information and/or consent; screen patients for surgical implants, allergies, etc.
  • Obtain prior films/exams as needed and perform high quality scans to submit to the Radiologist for interpretation.
  • Perform exams while attending to patient’s care before, during and following the exam and notify the appropriate party if the patient’s condition changes at any time.
  • Coordinate scan protocols with the Radiologist; serve as an expert resource for clinical, technical and process‑related questions for other technologists.
  • Review and optimize scheduling to accommodate work‑ins and ensure proper protocol.
  • Maintain and regularly inspect equipment and immediately report any quality concerns as well as equipment failures or deficiencies; coordinate annual testing and/or equipment inspections.
  • Transfer and properly position patients for examination to obtain desired results according to physician’s specifications or protocols; provide immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Maintain a positive and professional atmosphere for patients; demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical or emotional stress.
  • Practice sterile technique and prevent cross‑contamination.

Requirements
