Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL seeks a CT Technologist to perform CT procedures under radiologist supervision, using advanced imaging tools in a Level I trauma setting.

Responsibilities include independent judgment in CT examinations, operating a variety of scans across inpatient and outpatient services, with ongoing learning and adopting new technologies such as O-arm and intraoperative CT. ARRT-RT required with CT certification within 1 year.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Radiography program accredited by ARRT.
• Currently registered as RT(R) with ARRT or NMTCB certification.
• CT designation to be obtained within 1 year from hire.

Shifts: AM full time, 7 on/ 7 off, Flexi/PRN

Job Description

Under the direction of a radiologist and the CT supervisor, to perform CT procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. To perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to render prescribed CT procedures.

Qualifications

Graduate from a Radiography program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. One (1) year experience in general radiography preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently registered as a Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) (R) with ARRT or currently certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Candidate will have one (1) year from hire date to become registered in Computed Tomography (CT) from ARRT or obtain CT designation from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
