Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL invites applications for a Radiologic Technologist specializing in Computed Tomography. You'll perform CT procedures to assist radiologists in diagnosing disease and injury, including patient positioning, contrast administration, and adherence to safety protocols.

This role offers a 7on/7off schedule with days or evenings, and works at UAB St Vincent's East or Freestanding ER.

Qualifications

  • BLS within 30 days of hire date.
  • ARRT Radiography or CT certification prior to hire date.
  • Evidence of CT specialty or related Nuclear Medicine credentials.
  • Certification or ARRT(CT) required in addition to CNMT.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT procedures for diagnosis according to radiologist protocols.
  • Position patients and select appropriate parameters accurately.
  • Administer contrast media within scope and regulations.
  • Monitor patient and follow radiation safety procedures.

Job Description

Perform computerized tomographic procedures for the diagnosis of disease and injury according to protocols established by radiologists.

  • Prepare and position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Observe patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Monitor protocols and recommend updates or refinements as warranted.
  • Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • One or more of the following required:
    • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy specialty also accepted.
    • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Computed Tomography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Nuclear Medical Tech credentialed from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. NMTCB(CT) Computed Tomography Specialty
    • Certification or ARRT(CT) Radiologic Technologist specializing in Computed Tomography required in addition to CNMT Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification.
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited educational program in Radiologic Technology required
