Description:
The CT Technologist will perform a wide variety of high-quality CT scans while providing excellent patient care.
Work Schedule: Variable - PRN
Qualifications:
Minimum Work Experience:
- 1 year Clinical CT imaging experience in a hospital or outpatient environment (Required)
- Pediatric Imaging experience (Preferred)
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Demonstrate appropriate patient care, technical, procedural, and evaluation skills.
- Proficient in performing a variety of CT procedures independently, consistently, and effectively.
- Skillful operation of imaging equipment and related components.
- Good judgment when correlating patient history with scanning protocols.
- Knowledge of imaging protocols to perform quality clinical and research exams.
- Adequate knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
- Ability to troubleshoot and recognize equipment malfunctions.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
- Registered Radiography Technologist (ARRT) (Required)
- R.T. (R) (CT) (ARRT) certification. Cross-Trained staff must attain Post-Primary certification within 1 year (Required)
Functional Accountabilities:
- Performance of Clinical and Research Procedures:
- Work in conjunction with Nuclear Medicine Technologists to perform PET/CT exams.
- Familiar with contrast medications used for CT exams.
- Perform all exams efficiently, recognizing when to make scan sequence adjustments to enhance images.
- Orient new technologists to attain proficiency in pediatric imaging protocols.
- Consistent email review for department and hospital operational updates.
- Quality Control:
- Verify exam requests with patient information.
- Ensure exam images have the correct patient data.
- Follow procedures regarding equipment warm-up, phantom scanning, and shut-down.
- Check exam orders and charges for accuracy; complete RIS assignments accurately and timely.
- Acknowledge and respond to performance improvement feedback.
- Track and record scanner data to meet ACR requirements.
- Ensure scanners and exam rooms are clean and stocked.
- Greet patients/parents respectfully and explain exam procedures clearly.
- Discharge patients/parents with appropriate follow-up information.
- Report customer service issues to the manager promptly.
- Equally share on-call responsibilities with all CT Technologists.
- Clinical Safety:
- Adhere to all OSHA regulations and patient safety guidelines.
- Conduct Time Outs before procedures.
- Inquire about menstrual status and pregnancy possibilities for female adolescents and teens.
- Report equipment malfunctions immediately.
- Complete mandatory annual reviews on CHEX.
- Daily Patient Flow:
- Identify opportunities to perform exams.
- Coordinate patient throughput to ensure timely service.
- Communicate effectively during handoffs.
- Report personnel issues to ensure continuous staffing and a safe environment.
- Professional Development:
- Maintain R.T. (R) (CT) ARRT certification.
- Update CPR certification biennially.
- Attend seminars and in-services.
- Participate in Quality Assurance Initiatives.
