Job summary

Geisinger in Scranton is seeking a CT Technologist to perform computed tomography examinations and ensure patient safety under physician supervision.

You will follow ALARA principles, educate trainees, and assist interventional CT procedures in a clinical setting on-site. The role requires ARRT or NMTCB certification and compliance with department policies.

Qualifications

• ARRT certification or NMTCB required on hire.
• New graduates must obtain ARRT-R or NMTCB prior to first day of employment.
• Applicants hired after March 10, 2024 must complete steps required for advancing to level 2 within 24 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtains patient identification, confirms exam order, and documents clinical history with confidentiality.
• Applies imaging protocols and ALARA principles to maximize safety and image quality.
• Prepares and administers medications via vascular access as prescribed.
• Evaluates CT images for position and quality; ensures data is archived or transferred properly.
• Educates and supervises students and other health care providers.
• Assists licensed practitioners with interventional CT procedures.
• Performs CT examinations as prescribed by licensed practitioners.

Job description

• Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
• Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
• Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
• Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
• Assisting a licensed practitioner with interventional computed tomography procedures.
• Performing computed tomography procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
