Job summary

Wellstar is seeking a CT Technologist for Columbia County Medical Center Hospital to perform CT procedures with a focus on patient safety and comfort. You will ensure high-quality imaging, adhere to ALARA protocols, and collaborate with a dedicated care team in a hospital setting.

The role requires radiologic tech certification via ARRT (Radiography/CT) and a year of radiology experience, plus BLS. A full-time, on-site position with comprehensive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology
• ARRT-R and ARRT-CT certifications required
• BLS certification required

Responsibilities

• Perform CT procedures according to department guidelines and maintain diagnostic image quality.
• Operate imaging equipment safely, minimizing patient dose (ALARA).
• Clean and disinfect rooms and equipment; report equipment issues promptly.
• Verify orders, obtain clinical history, and ensure patient identifiers before exams.
• Explain procedures to patients, reduce anxiety, and ensure comfort and safety.
• Administer contrast per protocol using proper venipuncture technique.
• Position patients, apply markers and shielding as indicated, and document findings in RIS/PACS.
• Review images for diagnostic acceptability and finalize studies, including transfers and prior exam retrieval.

Required Qualifications

Core Responsibilities

• Perform CT procedures according to department guidelines, use your technical knowledge to capture quality diagnostic images
• Work independently operating imaging or radiographic equipment safely and adjusting techniques to maintain diagnostic quality at the lowest reasonable dose (ALARA)
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain rooms or equipment per infection control schedules; identify and report equipment issues promptly
• Obtain clinical history and screen for contraindications; verify orders and two unique patient identifiers before any exam
• Explain procedures, prep, and post-care clearly using AIDET; address questions and reduce patient anxiety
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety; provide age-appropriate care throughout the visit
• Perform exams and administer contrast per protocol, using venipuncture and sterile technique when applicable
• Position patients correctly and apply markers, shielding, and immobilization as indicated
• Review images for diagnostic acceptability; repeat or correct as needed and release patients appropriately
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and ensure studies are correctly finalized in RIS/PACS (including transfers/retrieval, CDs, and prior exam retrieval as needed)
• Monitor patient condition, respond to emergencies, and help maintain and restock crash cart and life-support equipment as required
• Organize daily workflows to meet expected timeframes; collaborate with technologists/modalities to support department flow
• Support operations and compliance, keep areas orderly and stocked, transport patients safely, complete charging/clerical tasks, follow regulatory requirements, and elevate issues to the supervisor
