Job summary

Wellstar is seeking a CT Technologist to join the Columbia County Medical Center Hospital team. You will deliver high-quality CT imaging and provide a supportive patient experience as part of a collaborative care group.

The role requires an accredited radiologic technology program, ARRT radiography and CT certifications, and BLS. You will work in a full-time capacity with a focus on ALARA principles and patient safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program is required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology is required.
• ARRT-R (Radiography) certification is required.
• ARRT-CT – ARRT Computed Tomography certification is required.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform CT procedures according to department guidelines and maintain diagnostic image quality.
• Operate imaging equipment independently and apply ALARA to minimize radiation exposure.
• Disinfect and prepare rooms and equipment per infection control schedules.
• Verify patient identity and orders; obtain clinical history as needed.
• Communicate procedures and prep steps clearly to reduce patient anxiety.
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety throughout the visit.
• Administer contrast per protocol using proper venipuncture technique.
• Position patients correctly and apply markers and shielding.
• Review images and ensure diagnostic quality; document and finalize studies in RIS/PACS.
• Monitor patient condition and respond to emergencies; restock life-support equipment as required.
• Support department workflow and regulatory compliance; coordinate with staff and supervisors.

Required Qualifications

Core Responsibilities

• Perform CT procedures according to department guidelines, use your technical knowledge to capture quality diagnostic images
• Work independently operating imaging or radiographic equipment safely and adjusting techniques to maintain diagnostic quality at the lowest reasonable dose (ALARA)
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain rooms or equipment per infection control schedules; identify and report equipment issues promptly
• Obtain clinical history and screen for contraindications; verify orders and two unique patient identifiers before any exam
• Explain procedures, prep, and post-care clearly using AIDET; address questions and reduce patient anxiety
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety; provide age-appropriate care throughout the visit
• Perform exams and administer contrast per protocol, using venipuncture and sterile technique when applicable
• Position patients correctly and apply markers, shielding, and immobilization as indicated
• Review images for diagnostic acceptability; repeat or correct as needed and release patients appropriately
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and ensure studies are correctly finalized in RIS/PACS (including transfers/retrieval, CDs, and prior exam retrieval as needed)
• Monitor patient condition, respond to emergencies, and help maintain and restock crash cart and life-support equipment as required
• Organize daily workflows to meet expected timeframes; collaborate with technologists/modalities to support department flow
• Support operations and compliance, keep areas orderly and stocked, transport patients safely, complete charging/clerical tasks, follow regulatory requirements, and elevate issues to the supervisor
