Job summary

Wellstar in Georgia seeks a CT Technologist at Columbia County Medical Center Hospital to deliver high-quality imaging and exceptional patient care. You will prepare, administer contrast, and perform CT exams while ensuring safety and comfort for diverse patients.

As part of a collaborative team, you will follow ALARA principles, document results in RIS/PACS, and uphold infection control standards. This full-time role includes shift flexibility and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology
• ARRT-R (Radiography) certification required
• ARRT-CT certification required
• BLS certification required

Responsibilities

• Perform CT procedures according to department guidelines and maintain diagnostic image quality
• Operate imaging equipment safely and adjust techniques to minimize dose (ALARA)
• Disinfect and prepare rooms and equipment per infection control schedules
• Verify orders and use two patient identifiers before exams
• Explain procedures, prep, and post-care clearly using AIDET; address patient questions
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety during visits
• Administer contrast per protocol using venipuncture and sterile technique
• Position patients correctly and apply markers, shielding, and immobilization as needed
• Review images for diagnostic acceptability and reimage if necessary
• Document studies accurately in RIS/PACS and manage transfers/retrievals
• Monitor patient condition, respond to emergencies, restock life-support equipment as required
• Maintain daily workflows and support department operations and compliance

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Accredited Radiologic Technology program

1 year experience in Radiology

Required Qualifications

Core Responsibilities

• Perform CT procedures according to department guidelines, use your technical knowledge to capture quality diagnostic images
• Work independently operating imaging or radiographic equipment safely and adjusting techniques to maintain diagnostic quality at the lowest reasonable dose (ALARA)
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain rooms or equipment per infection control schedules; identify and report equipment issues promptly
• Obtain clinical history and screen for contraindications; verify orders and two unique patient identifiers before any exam
• Explain procedures, prep, and post-care clearly using AIDET; address questions and reduce patient anxiety
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety; provide age-appropriate care throughout the visit
• Perform exams and administer contrast per protocol, using venipuncture and sterile technique when applicable
• Position patients correctly and apply markers, shielding, and immobilization as indicated
• Review images for diagnostic acceptability; repeat or correct as needed and release patients appropriately
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and ensure studies are correctly finalized in RIS/PACS (including transfers/retrieval, CDs, and prior exam retrieval as needed)
• Monitor patient condition, respond to emergencies, and help maintain and restock crash cart and life-support equipment as required
• Organize daily workflows to meet expected timeframes; collaborate with technologists/modalities to support department flow
• Support operations and compliance, keep areas orderly and stocked, transport patients safely, complete charging/clerical tasks, follow regulatory requirements, and elevate issues to the supervisor
