Overview

Produces CT scans as ordered by a physician following the established policies of the Department. Able to provide appropriate care for patients served, regardless of age. Must provide coverage on weekends, holidays, and off-shifts as deemed necessary to maintain departmental services. This job description and requirements have been approved by the medical chairman of the diagnostic imaging department and the executive committee of the medical staff.

Responsibilities

  1. Performs all diagnostic radiographs and associated film processing.
  2. Uses technical skill and knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy to perform CT exams using appropriate imaging protocols, independently and efficiently.
  3. Participates in workflow activities to ensure departmental goals are met and operations run efficiently.
  4. Assists schedulers, physicians, nursing, and other staff with scheduling, requisitions, pre-authorization, patient prep instructions, and exam communications.
  5. Provides quality and compassionate patient care to ensure cooperation, safety, and satisfaction. Explains procedures thoroughly and offers emotional support.
  6. Performs record-keeping and customer service functions to ensure proper billing and communicates feedback.
  7. Participates in teaching, learning, and research opportunities to further professional knowledge and assist in training others.
  8. Strives to achieve patient satisfaction scores set by the department, presenting a friendly and courteous demeanor, and encouraging a patient and family-centered experience.
Qualifications

Education: Associates Degree in Radiology preferred. ARRT, CT advanced registry required unless trainee, with 6 months from start date to obtain.

Experience: Minimum one year in CT unless trainee.

Licensure: ARRT and CT State License required. CT Advanced Certification required unless trainee, with 6 months to obtain.

Special Skills: Ability to produce high-quality CT scans using complex protocols.

Physical Demands: Exposure to infectious diseases or hazardous materials. Standing and walking most of the day, with occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling. Manual dexterity required, with the ability to assist in lifting patients with physical problems.
