Overview

Produces CT Scans as ordered by a physician following the established policies of the Department. Able to provide appropriate care for patients served, regardless of age. Must provide coverage on weekends, holidays, and off-shifts as deemed necessary to maintain departmental services. This job description and requirements for this position have been approved by the medical chairman for the department of diagnostic imaging and the executive committee of the medical staff.

Responsibilities
  1. Performs all diagnostic radiographs and associated film processing.
  2. Uses technical skill and knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy to perform CT exams using appropriate imaging protocols, independently and efficiently.
  3. Participates in workflow activities to ensure departmental goals are met and operations run smoothly.
  4. Assists schedulers, physicians, nursing staff, and other appropriate personnel with scheduling, requisitions, pre-authorization, patient preparation, and exam-related communications.
  5. Provides quality and compassionate patient care to ensure cooperation, safety, and satisfaction. Demonstrates accuracy in safety screening and promotes service excellence.
  6. Explains procedures thoroughly to patients and offers emotional support.
  7. Performs record keeping and customer service functions to ensure proper billing and communicate feedback.
  8. Selects the correct patient from the worklist consistently.
  9. Participates in educational activities to further professional knowledge and assist in expanding others' knowledge.
  10. Receptive to teaching newly-hired technologists, as observed by supervisors or staff input.
  11. Strives to achieve patient satisfaction scores set by the department on the Press Ganey Survey.
  12. Presents oneself in a friendly and courteous manner, identifies role, and encourages a patient and family-centered experience.
Qualifications

Education
Associates Degree in Radiology preferred. ARRT, CT advanced registry required unless trainee, in which case the technologist has 6 months from start date to obtain.

Experience
Minimum one (1) year experience in CT unless trainee.

Licensure
ARRT and CT State License required. CT Advanced Certification required unless trainee, in which case the technologist has 6 months from start date to obtain.

Special Skills
Able to produce high-quality CT scans using complex protocols.

Physical Demands
May be exposed to infectious diseases or hazardous materials. Standing and walking most of the day. Handling lightweight equipment with occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling of heavy objects. Must have manual dexterity, hearing, observing surroundings, and assisting in lifting patients with physical problems.
