Job summary

Advocate Health in Barrington, IL seeks a CT technologist to perform CT procedures under radiologist supervision, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images and patient safety. You will position patients, select technical factors, and manage contrast injections in accordance with department guidelines.

The role requires ARRT CT certification, CPR, and the ability to work rotating shifts. A sign-on bonus of $5,000 is available for external candidates and you will contribute to ongoing department

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA approved school of radiology technology with certification by ARRT
• 6 months minimum CT experience
• Mentor radiology technologists in CT techniques
• Computer applications background
• CT registered within 6 months of hire
• IEMA accreditation

• Ability to lift/move patients
• Work rotating shifts including weekends
• Experience with patient age groups required

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of a radiologist, perform CT procedures with supervision

Position Requirements:

• Graduate of AMA approved school of radiology technology with certification by ARRT
• 6 months minimum CT experience
• Able to mentor and educate radiology technologists in proper techniques for CT scanning
• Computer applications technical background in computers
• Technical knowledge in the area of computers and cross sectional anatomy
• CT registered within 6 month from the date of hire.

• This position may need to recognize needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated, in this case, prior experience with all age groups is required

Purpose:

Under the direction of a radiologist, performs computerized tomographic procedures at a technical level requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for computerized tomography scanning. Assumes responsibilities for designed areas or procedures as required.

Accountabilities:

Production of scans, positions, and immobilization of patients. Selects proper technical factors. Ensures patient is well informed about procedure and other relevant positioning information. Responsibility for diagnostic procedures requiring sound understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology so that independent selection and modification of technical factors may produce optimum results. Responsible for capturing appropriate exam charges, updates to procedure files, reimbursement codes, etc., with the HIS/RIS Computer System, as well as training and overseeing department personnel following HIS/RIS Procedures checks daily log to see that day's exams are appropriately completed. Ensures that procedures sent to PACS are verified to enable radiologist interpretation of the procedure.
Performs 3~D reconstruction, CT angiography and is proficient in use of AWW work station.
Injection of appropriate contrast material into a vein to visualize anatomical structures under the supervision of a Radiologist and following department guidelines.
Provision of radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Maintenance of adequate records, orderliness, and cleanliness of CT suite. Required to perform quality control tests and document results maintains a quality protocol to computerize and enhance images. Completes assigned CQI projects and mandatory inservices as assigned.
Maintain awareness of technological changes and advances in CT.
