Job description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a CT Technologist to join our Radiology team on a per diem basis, with flexible shifts (Day/Eve/Night). The successful candidate will perform radiographic procedures, applying x-ray energy for diagnosis or treatment, and will demonstrate professional judgment, patient care, and technical expertise in cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Operates CT equipment according to regulations:
   • Selects appropriate protocols and adjusts scanning parameters to optimize image quality.
   • Uses immobilization devices safely and effectively.
2. Positions patients properly:
   • Ensures patient comfort and demonstrates anatomical positioning.
   • Removes artifacts and respects patient dignity.
3. Applies radiation safety principles:
   • Uses safety devices and proper exposure settings to minimize exposure.
4. Evaluates image quality:
   • Manipulates display parameters and ensures proper documentation and storage.
5. Prepares contrast media:
   • Determines need, prepares, labels, and instructs patients on contrast media usage.
6. Assists with interventional procedures:
   • Verifies consent, reviews requisitions, and applies aseptic techniques.
7. Provides patient care:
   • Verifies identity, explains procedures, and ensures patient safety and comfort.
8. Operates HIS/RIS and PACS systems:
   • Tracks images and sends them to PACS promptly.
9. Performs daily QA activities:
   • Conducts and documents quality assurance tests on CT scanners.
10. Maintains professionalism:
    • Arrives prepared, communicates effectively, and adheres to service standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current NY State licensure in Diagnostic Radiology, ARRT certification and registration, BLS certification, completion of a two-year ARRT-approved program, and CT-specific CE credits.

Required Licenses:

Radiologic Tech License - NYS
