Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital is seeking an Imaging Technologist specialized in CT to join a collaborative radiology team. The role involves producing cross‑sectional images, preparing patients, administering contrast, and ensuring safety and accuracy in a fast‑paced care setting.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by ARRT (R.T.(R)) in good standing.
  • Certification in Computed Tomography (R.T.(R) (CT) ARR T) within one year of hire.
  • Current state licensure.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or Red Cross.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation to detect pathology.
  • Produce cross-section CT images for diagnosis in ER and inpatient settings.
  • Operate CT equipment safely and maintain ALARA standards.
  • Position patients and administer contrast as instructed.
  • Document procedures and ensure data is properly filed and transmitted.
  • Inspect equipment and ensure proper orientation.
  • Provide imaging studies copies as needed.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to meet goals and improve workflow.

Job description

The Imaging Technologist works in conjunction with department associates and medical staff to improve the care of the patient and work flow via providing support, education and assistance to customers and fellow colleagues. Supports the mission and vision of Cleveland Clinic. Performs duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation for the purpose of detecting pathology. Demonstrates knowledge of clinical procedures, equipment and policies - Hospital and Department - that are necessary for job performance. Operates equipment safely and maintains A.L.A.R.A. standards while performing all types of procedures. Establishes and maintains a good rapport and professional relationship with fellow employees, other departments and medical staff. Collaborates with department leadership to develop and implement methods to achieve established goals and objectives. Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively both verbally and written.

As a CT Technologist, you will produce cross-section images of internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of various medical issues. Utilizing your advanced training and knowledge, you will accurately interpret scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the equipment, and position the patient to capture the appropriate images. In this particular role, you will be a part of diagnostic imaging, which will include involvement with patients in both the Emergency Room and staying in the hospital. You will set the tone for the patient regarding what news it delivered. This role is critical in the overall treatment of our patients, making you an invaluable asset to the Cleveland Clinic system.

A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Perform duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation to detect pathology.
  • Perform routine, emergent, invasive and special procedures.
  • Operate equipment safely and maintain A.L.A.R.A. standards while performing procedures.
  • Coordinate and answer questions regarding scheduling, patient information, networking and informatics.
  • Document in charts and ensure that all electronic data is sent to its appropriate destination.
  • Inspect equipment to ensure proper orientation.
  • Provide copies of imaging studies.
  • Abide by all regulations that apply to state and national standards.
  • Maintain adequate supplies in the work area with items necessary to perform the daily schedule.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to develop and implement methods to achieve established goals and objectives for the department.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technology [R.T.(R) (ARRT)] in good standing
  • Certification in Computed Tomography [R.T.(R) (CT) (ARRT)] within one year of hire
  • Current state licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Two years of experience as an Imaging Technologist in an acute care imaging setting
Physical Requirements:
  • Mental Demands: Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests and to work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team and ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self‑control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers.
  • Special Demands: Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs, carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities; self‑starting and self‑motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work at hand.
  • Physical Requirements: Requires sitting at a workstation or desk; requires standing; work may include occasional pushing and/or pulling, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Work requires finger dexterity and eye‑hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard at a moderate skill level.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
