About Duke Regional Hospital

CT Technologist

Location: Duke Regional Hospital, 3643 N Roxboro St, Durham, NC 27704

Work Schedule: Part-Time, 1st Shift, (3) 10-hour Shifts, Thursday - Saturday 9:00AM-7:30PM

Duke University Health System seeks to hire an experienced or new graduate CT Technologist who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together. The Duke Regional Hospital (DRH) has 388 inpatient beds and offers a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, and diagnostic services. In this role, there are 3 scanners and 3 rooms primarily serving outpatients, ED, and inpatients.

What you will do:
  1. Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners, power injectors, and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures.
  2. Position patients for CT scans using patient positioning devices and protective equipment as necessary.
  3. Perform exams accurately per established protocols, policy, and patient safety standards.
  4. Assist radiologist with interventional CT procedures.
  5. Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure, and appropriately label. Film/transmit to Image Archival System.
  6. Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions.
  7. Dispense and/or order oral contrast to patients for CT scans.
  8. Maintain accurate patient records.
  9. Provide orientation and training to new CT technologists.
  10. Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients and their families during CT scans.
  11. Provide education and training to student technologists.
  12. Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.
  13. Coordinate scheduling and patient flow.
  14. Demonstrate proficiency in IV placement for contrast administration.
  15. Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in performance of all exam protocols.
  16. Perform CT-specific technical assistance with projects assigned by supervisor, including but not limited to: team lead, R & D, protocol development, charge reconciliation, and equipment demonstration.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Graduate or completion of a program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification, or currently holds required registry or certification.

Experience:

  • Level I: Must obtain CT certification within 18 months of employment.
  • Level II: Minimum of two years' experience as a CT technologist.
  • Level III: A minimum of 4 years' experience within the specialty modality in which they are seeking promotion.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

  • Certification in one of the following required: Radiography (R), Nuclear Medicine Technology (N), CNMT.
  • ARRT registered in Computed Tomography (CT) required within 18 months of employment.
  • BLS certification.
