Job summary

AdventHealth in DeLand, FL is seeking a PRN Radiologic Technologist specializing in CT imaging. You will perform exams, educate patients, and ensure efficient workflows while following safety and infection control protocols.

You will operate scanners and injectors per orders, collaborate with radiologists, and maintain quality control and room readiness to support high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• BLS CPR certification required.
• ARRT registered radiologic technologist (RT(R)) required or with equivalent credentials.
• Demonstrated ability to operate imaging equipment safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality CT examinations per orders and protocols.
• Educate patients about the exam and ensure timely completion.
• Adhere to infection control standards and use PPE appropriately.
• Maintain ALARA principles and radiation safety during imaging.
• Coordinate with radiologists and healthcare staff for continuity of care.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and perform QC checks as required.

Job Description

This is a PRN Days position Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems. Educates patients about the exam and complete all exams in a timely manner, maintaining workflow and minimizing empty table time. Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages. Practicing infection control standards and using approved PPE and disinfectant agents. Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams. Performs high-quality CT examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis. Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications. Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions. Positions patients accurately and comfortably, using immobilization devices when necessary, while ensuring radiation safety and ALARA principles are maintained. Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare providers to ensure appropriate imaging and continuity of patient care. Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Patient care and communication skills to deal with patients from infant, childhood, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. [Required] Must be able to use computer system for data entry and retrieval. Basic working knowledge of PC is necessary. [Required]
