Job Description

At the direction of a qualified physician, the technologist performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.

• Perform computed tomography procedures using established protocols, including contrast administration without constant supervision.
• Adjust protocols and apply ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic CT.
• Utilize complex imaging equipment for acquisition, analysis, reconstruction and documentation of image data and complete procedures according to protocol.
• Administer PO, rectal and IV contrast per physician orders and department policy; assess patients for potential risk factors prior to administration.
• Communicate instructions clearly to patients, explain procedures, allay fears, and solicit cooperation.
• Identify patients properly using two identifiers and employ universal protocol.
• Review patient history, assess physician orders; apply departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition.
• Document patient history in electronic record as required.

Qualifications

• Licensed Radiology Technologist in NY State.
• Minimum one year CT experience.
• Certified to perform IV injections for CT exams; current BLS CPR certification required.
• Candidates may become certified within six months of hire.

Salary

$40 an hour (compensation within the stated range is determined by market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise, and internal equity considerations).
